On the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2012, the High Commissioner hoisted the National Flag at the Chancery and read the President's Address to the Nation on the eve of 63rd Republic Day. This was followed by cultural peformances by students of Indian Schools - DPS, Global Indian International School, DAV, NPS International and Yuva Bharati.

Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Environment and Water Resources was the Chief Guest at the evening reception, which was attended by Singapore Government officials, diplomatic representatives, business community and members of the Indian community.
