Does the applicant require to come in person for renewal of passport? 

Ans :  

Yes, for all passport related services the applicant should come in person.

Can I renew my passport if not resident here?

Ans :  

Yes, but it would take more time. Normally passport should  be renewed at your normal place of residence.

How many photographs are required while applying for Passport?

Ans :  

1 passport size (2 X 5cm) recent colored photograph.

If pages in the passport are finished, what can be done?

Ans :  

Applicant needs to apply for a Fresh Passport.

What is the procedure for renewal of passport, if issued in India and how long will it take?

Ans :  

If the passport is issued in India it will take 5 working days to renew the passport. The application forms are to be submitted with 1 recent colored passport size photograph, original passport and bring along Singapore Identity card and its photocopy.

What is the procedure to renew the passport if the passport has been issued in Singapore?

Ans :  

The documents required are 1 photograph, original passport, application form duly filled and signed and requisite fee. Processing time - 5 working days.

What is the procedure to apply for passport of a newly born child in Singapore?

Ans :  

Documents required are 1 photograph, Birth certificate (Original) and copy of Birth certificate, Parents passport and copy of parents passport, application form duly filled with the thumb print of the child and requisite fee. Processing time - 5 working days.

What is the procedure to change the name in the passport?

Ans :  

To correct any error in the name, the applicant must show original birth certificate or any other relevant documents to get the name corrected. If the applicant wants to change the name he has to do a Deed Poll with Notary Public, declare in the newspapers or publish in Government Gazettes in India and after a month bring a copy of the published note, deed poll and apply for change of name. Processing time - 5 working days.

What is the procedure to change photograph of child in passport?

Ans :  

The applicant has to apply for a fresh passport. Please submit application form with 1 latest passport size colored photograph, original passport and requisite fee. On the application form thumb print of the child is to be put if the child cannot sign.

What is the procedure for renouncing the Indian citizenship?

Ans :  

When an applicant opts to take foreign citizenship he has to apply for cancellation of his Indian passport. At the time of cancellation of his passport he has to submit original passport and original letter from Immigration and Checkpoints Authority and requisite fee along with photocopy. Processing time - 2 working days.

What is the procedure to apply for duplicate passport in case of lost and damaged passport?

Ans :  

If the passport is damaged the applicant has to submit damaged passport, application form, 1 photo and requisite fee with explanation. 

If the passport is lost, copy of police complaint report with Singapore Police and a copy of the passport or passport details  is required to be submitted with application form and requisite fee. A duplicate passport is issued upon verification.

What is the procedure to apply for Emergency certificate?

Ans :  

When a person loses his passport and he wishes to travel one way from Singapore to India, then Emergency certificate is issued to him. For this he has to get complaint report from Singapore Police, special pass from ICA and copy of his passport or any documentary proof showing that he is an Indian National, application form and requisite fee. Processing time - 2 working days.

Can parents sign on behalf of a child?

Ans :  

No, the parents cannot sign on behalf of the child . If the child cannot sign then the thumb impression of the child is to be put at place of signature. If the child is a girl right hand thumb impression is to be put and if it is a boy then left hand thumb impression is to be put.

What is the procedure for obtaining additional booklet/ Passport?

Ans :  

The practice of issuing additional booklet has been discontinued and  one has to pply for fresh passport. Submit your old/current passports, one photograph, and filled in application along with copy of work permit/pass, student pass, long term pass, dependent pass, PR endorsement etc., for fresh passport. If your current passport has been issued from India, it may take five working days subject to verification.

 What is the procedure for change of address?

Ans :  

Submit any proof of residence indicating new address along with `Miscellaneous Form’ for the service.

What is the procedure for inclusion of  spouse name?

Ans :  

Submit your marriage certificate/ notarized affidavit from India or wedding invitation card (with a copy) and passport with photographs for the service. Please  fill up `Miscellaneous Form’

What is the procedure for collection if applicant is unable to come in person?

Ans :  

Submit  written authorization for collection by other than applicant along with receipt if the application had been submitted by applicant.

What is the procedure for transferring visa to new passport?

Ans :  

Please check with  concerned embassies about transfer of visa as different countries follow different systems. We give endorsement mentioning `old passport holds valid visa’. You may specifically request for such endorsement at the time of submitting the forms.

Will the old passport be returned after issuing new passport?

Ans :  

The old passport after cancellation along with new passport will be returned to you and an endorsement to this effect will be given in the new passport. You may have to leave the old passport with us for preparing new passport.

Can minors hold both Indian and Singapore passports as Singapore Government allows it?

Ans :  

Singapore government rules allow minors to hold both the passports till the child attains 21 years of age. But Indian rules do not allow any Indian to hold any other passport. In the event of anyone holding two passports on their arrival in India, Indian passport is liable for  seizure by immigration authorities.

What is the procedure for applying for passport if current passport has been issued from other than India/Singapore?

Ans :  

You may submit fax form filling details of current passport and contact number with S$20. After receiving confirmation details we will inform you for submission of application of fresh applications. At that point you may submit your old/current passports, one photograph, and filled in application for fresh passport. It may take five working days.

In case of urgent travel requirement you may opt for one year validity and after one month you may apply for full validity without any additional payment by filling up Miscellaneous Form

What is the alternative if fax reply is not received in time?

Ans :  

In case of urgent travel requirement you may opt for one year validity and after one month you may apply for full validity without any additional payment by filling up Miscellaneous form.

What is the provision for express service?

Ans :  

You may apply at HCI.
In case of urgency to collect passport with proper justification before scheduled date, you may pay express fee of S$300 and get the date preponed.
